It seems I have always been fascinated by knives. It wasn't until 1979 that I saw a truly "custom knife" and knew I wanted to try to make one. About that time I met a custom knife maker, P.J. (Pat) Tomes, who agreed to show me a few things. We became friends, and Pat was a great help in getting started. Shortly after that, I met Ron Frazier (now deceased), who was an awesome knife maker. Ron was such an inspiration to me, to always try and make the next one better.
I met Rick Bowles in the 70's, who introduced me to Randall Knives and encouraged me to try a miniature. I did and was hooked. I made what I thought were miniature copies of Randall knives. Rick was always very gracious in helping me by showing me how mine differed slightly from real Randalls.
Gradually I got the picture, and if I was close he would tell me. If not, he would show me how I could improve. He has always taken time to help and encourage me, for which I shall always be grateful.
I make all of my knives in my shop, in my garage at home. They are made entirely by me and 90% of them are miniature copies of Randall full size knives. I have no affiliation with Randall Made Knives, other than an appreciation for the craftsmanship, quality, and design. I will not make a full size Randall, and mine are all stamped "Hedrick".
My miniatures are just that, "miniatures". They will not do what full sized Randalls will do. They are meant to look at, and perhaps open your mail! I am easy to reach and check my email every day!
